Dakaretai Otoko 1 I Ni Odosarete Imasu

Okay, picture this: me, scrolling aimlessly through Crunchyroll (as one does), desperately searching for something, anything, to fill the void left by finishing that one anime you know you shouldn't have binged in two days. We've all been there, right? 🙋‍♀️ And then... BAM! There it was. A title that screamed, "Click me, you won't regret it!" (Narrator: she absolutely regretted some parts, but in a… interesting way).

I'm talking about Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu, also known as Dakaichi or I'm Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year. I know, the title is already a rollercoaster. Buckle up, buttercup, because the show is even wilder.

So, what's it all about? Basically, you've got Takato Saijo, a seasoned actor who's held the "Sexiest Man of the Year" title for five glorious years. He's got the swagger, the talent (allegedly), and the ego to match. But then, dun dun DUN! A younger, hotter actor named Junta Azumaya shows up and snatches the crown. Takato is, understandably, NOT thrilled.

But here's where things get… unconventional. Instead of a bitter rivalry, Junta decides the best way to deal with Takato's animosity is through… ahem… other means. Let's just say the "harassment" in the title is putting it mildly. Think blackmail involving compromising photos, escalating into a… consensual (ish?) relationship. See what I mean about the rollercoaster?

The Good, the Bad, and the Very Explicit

Let's be honest, Dakaichi is not winning any awards for nuanced storytelling. The plot is, shall we say, a vehicle for exploring… certain… themes. However, there's a strange charm to its absurdity. Takato's dramatic outbursts are genuinely funny, and Junta's relentless devotion (bordering on obsession) is… well, it's something. I mean, who wouldn’t love someone who dedicates themself fully? Even if the reason behind their dedication is… questionable!

The animation is gorgeous, though. Seriously, A-1 Pictures didn't hold back on the visuals. The characters are beautifully rendered, and the more… intimate scenes are, uh, detailed. (Just a heads up if you’re watching this on a public computer – maybe use headphones? 😅 Just a thought!).

Now, let's address the elephant in the room: the questionable consent. Dakaichi definitely plays with the line between consensual and non-consensual, and it's something you should be aware of going in. It’s not for everyone, and if you're sensitive to power dynamics or dubcon themes, this might not be your cup of tea. Consider this your trigger warning.

Guilty Pleasure Alert!

Despite its flaws, Dakaichi is undeniably addictive. It's a guilty pleasure that you know you shouldn't enjoy as much as you do. The over-the-top drama, the gorgeous visuals, and the… unique relationship between Takato and Junta make it a watchable, if slightly problematic, show.

So, would I recommend it? That depends. If you're looking for a deep, thought-provoking anime with strong character development, look elsewhere. But if you're in the mood for some ridiculousness, some eye candy, and a healthy dose of "what did I just watch?", then Dakaichi might just be the perfect train wreck.
