Saint Seiya - Time Odyssey - Tome 3

Saint Seiya - Time Odyssey - Tome 3

Okay, quick confession time. I was that kid. The one who drew constellations on his bedroom ceiling and genuinely believed he could channel the power of Pegasus. Don't judge! It was the 90s, and Saint Seiya was everything. So, imagine my inner child doing a backflip when Time Odyssey finally started coming out. We're talking full-blown nostalgia explosion!

And now, here we are, with Tome 3 finally in my hands. I spent the weekend devouring it (pizza and all, because, priorities!), and I'm here to give you my totally-not-expert-but-definitely-enthusiastic take.

So, what's the deal with Tome 3?

Without giving away too many spoilers (because seriously, go read it!), this volume really amps up the stakes. We're talking about a cosmic threat that makes Hades look like a grumpy kitten (sorry, Hades fans!). The Saints, still scattered across time and space, are desperately trying to piece together the puzzle of Chronos's twisted game. It's less "monster-of-the-week" and more "existential crisis on a galactic scale."

One of the things I appreciate most is the expansion of the lore. We get glimpses of forgotten deities and ancient conflicts that add layers upon layers to the Saint Seiya universe. It’s not just rehashing the old storylines; it's building upon them in really interesting ways. And let's be honest, who doesn't love a good mythology deep dive?

The artwork is, as always, stunning. Jérôme Alquie is a freaking master. The action sequences are dynamic and powerful, and the character designs are faithful to the original while still feeling fresh and modern. There's a real sense of scale and grandeur that perfectly captures the cosmic nature of the story. I swear, some of these panels belong in a museum!

But... (and there's always a but, right?) The pacing can feel a little uneven at times. There are moments where the story rushes forward, only to get bogged down in exposition the next. Don't get me wrong, the world-building is fantastic, but sometimes I just wanted to see Seiya punch something! Anyone else feel that way? (Seriously, let me know in the comments!)

The Verdict: Worth the Wait?

Absolutely. Despite the occasional pacing issues, Time Odyssey - Tome 3 is a fantastic addition to the Saint Seiya mythos. It's epic, visually stunning, and packed with enough action and intrigue to keep you hooked from beginning to end. The expansion of the lore and the exploration of new characters and conflicts make it feel like a truly worthwhile continuation of the story we all know and love.

If you're a longtime fan of Saint Seiya, this is a must-read. And even if you're new to the series, Time Odyssey is a great entry point. Just be prepared to fall down a rabbit hole of constellations, cosmic battles, and ridiculously overdramatic speeches. (You know you love it.)

Bottom line: Go read it! And then come back and tell me what you thought. I'm dying to discuss theories and speculate about what's coming next!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go practice my Pegasus Meteor Fist... just in case. You never know when you might need it.
